As a designer myself, I always wanted to make my designs look eye catchy and also very pleasing to eyes. Only later on in my career I found out about mock-ups and how to use mockup templates in photoshop. Here I will explain the simple process involved in using a mockup with just a few clicks.
I will be using Organic Business Card Mockup | FREE for today’s tutorial. You can Business card mockup psd free download and use it for this tutorial.
Let’s dive in and check out how to edit a mockup file in photoshop!
Step 1: Open the Document
Extract the downloaded file on to your work folder and open the Organic Business Card Mockup.psd.
Step 2: Find the Smart Object Layer
Almost all of the mockup’s downloaded will be having a smart object layer (marked in yellow) which will be the place where you have to replace your designs.
Step 3: Edit the Smart Object
Once you have found the smart object layer double click on the layer on which you have to edit. You have to double click on the small thumbnail on the layer
For this exercise I will be selecting the “Card Back DESIGN HERE” layer.
This opens a new tab in photoshop.

Step 4: Replace your Design in Smart Object
After opening the smart object in a separate tab, you can replace your business card design (or other designs for different mockups).
You can either drag and drop your design as jpeg from your hard drive or you can create a design right there in the smart object tab.
Step 5: SAVE the File
After replacing your design in the smart object SAVE the file. Always make sure to save the file before you jump into the master mockup file because that’s when you can view the changes.
Step 6: Go Back to Master Document
Now, after you have saved the smart object and go back to the master file the design will be adapted in your mockup design.
You can see the how good your design looks in the mockup scene.

Step 7: Repeat the Process for Other Side
Repeat the same process for the front side of the card and see the magic happen in front of your eyes .
